We start with the wall’s condition and the result you need. Local repairs, partial rebuilding and repointing need different scopes, and sound areas should not be included just because they share the same elevation.

We can look at deteriorated joints, isolated damaged bricks, openings that need making good and repairs around previous alterations. The mortar, joint profile and brick appearance should suit the existing construction.
For older masonry, specify compatible materials and consider a sample area before going further. A strong-looking cement finish is not automatically the right choice for an older, softer wall.
We can discuss new garden and boundary walls, agreed rebuilding and brickwork associated with extensions or alterations. Tell us the wall’s length, proposed height, corners, piers, coping and any gates.
A wall retaining ground is a different structure from a simple boundary wall. Ground levels, foundations, drainage and any structural design have to be established before it can be priced.
Loose mortar, staining and damaged bricks can have different causes. Leaking gutters, defective flashings, movement or incompatible previous repairs may need separate attention. Repointing is not a guaranteed cure for every damp problem.
Tell us about cracks, leaning or bulging, especially if they have changed. A structural assessment may be needed before a repair method is agreed. For listed or older properties, check the specification and any permissions with the appropriate adviser.
A cost per square metre is only useful alongside the wall condition, access and repair specification. Elevation areas should be kept separate from items measured by length or individually.

We can discuss suitable matching options, but age, weathering and product availability affect the result. Agree a sample where appearance is important.
That depends on its stability and the condition of the wall and foundations. Photographs help with the first discussion, but they do not replace assessment where movement or instability is suspected.
