Extensions, lofts and alterations

We build rear and side extensions, loft conversions and internal alterations such as opening up a kitchen and dining room. Structural work follows a structural engineer's design, and we tell you when you need one, along with building control and any party wall notices.

Before we price, we need the drawings if you have them, or photographs and rough sizes if you do not. If there are no plans yet, we can talk through what the job involves and who else you will need, such as an architect or engineer.

Refurbishments and repairs

We refurbish kitchens, bathrooms, single rooms and whole houses, and we organise the plastering, plumbing, carpentry, tiling and decorating ourselves. For landlords and managing agents we also take on repairs, empty-property refurbishments and exterior work.

Tell us whether you will live in the house during the work. We plan the order of rooms around that, so you keep a working kitchen or bathroom for as long as possible.

Building work in Croydon

Croydon's housing ranges from Victorian terraces in Thornton Heath and Norbury to interwar semis in Shirley and larger Edwardian houses in South Croydon and Purley. Older houses often have shallow foundations, solid brick walls and lime plaster, which affect how an extension or alteration is built.

Prices usually exclude VAT. We visit or review your drawings before we price, and any change during the job is agreed in writing before the work is done.

Do you take on small building jobs?

Yes. Send photographs and a short description. Small jobs are welcome, and if it is something we cannot help with, we will tell you straight away.

Do I need planning permission?

It depends on the work and the house. Many rear extensions and loft conversions are permitted development, but flats, maisonettes and conservation areas usually need permission. Structural work needs building regulations approval either way. We can explain what applies once we have seen the house.

Can you do the plumbing and decorating too?
