Painting and decorating in Wimbledon and Wimbledon Park, from one room to a whole house, inside or out. Before work starts we write down each wall, ceiling and piece of woodwork, how it will be prepared and which paint goes on it.
We have worked in Wimbledon before. In 2022 our director project-managed the extension and full refurbishment of a 1970s house on Durnsford Avenue, Wimbledon Park, including a new loft bedroom and bathroom. Send a few photographs of your rooms and tell us what needs doing. We can price decorating on its own or as part of wider work, and you choose the colours and who supplies the paint.

Choose the surfaces and the finish
Walls and ceilings
A room list should show each ceiling and wall area, the existing finish and the result you want. Repainting sound surfaces, removing loose coatings and repairing damaged patches involve different preparation. Tell us about wallpaper, stains, cracks and recent plastering before the scope is agreed.
For an occupied home, identify furniture that will remain, rooms needed each evening and routes that must stay clear. Protection, moving items and returning the room to use should be discussed alongside the paint finish.
Woodwork and finishing details
List the doors, frames, skirting, window boards and other internal timber you want decorated. Include their current condition and whether they are bare, previously painted or factory finished. Agree how handles, fittings and adjoining surfaces will be protected.
A colour name alone is not the full specification. Record the chosen product, sheen and areas receiving it. A sample can help you judge the colour in the room before the full quantity is ordered; preparation and drying follow the guidance for the selected coating.
Plan access and permissions for your Wimbledon home
Tell us the exact postcode, parking restrictions, floor level and route from the van to the rooms. Most of Wimbledon sits in Merton controlled parking zones, so check the council's current trade-permit arrangements and permitted bays before the start date. Agree who arranges parking and how the cost is included. A permit does not reserve a space.
Wimbledon has a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, interwar houses and purpose-built flats. Older houses often have lime plaster, cornicing, picture rails and painted sash windows, which need different preparation from modern plasterboard. In a flat, check the lease and the managing agent's rules on working hours and communal areas before booking a date. Send photographs of any cracks, stains or damp; the cause of ongoing moisture needs fixing before decorating.
Compare the decorating package surface by surface
A whole-room total is useful only when the preparation and surfaces match. State what is retained, repaired and painted, then confirm product supply and the finish at handover.
Quotation item
What to make clear
Surface schedule
Rooms, approximate dimensions, ceiling heights, walls, ceilings and individual woodwork items.
Preparation
Existing coatings, wallpaper removal if agreed, local repairs, sanding and required priming.
Products and protection
Paint specification and supplier, samples, furniture arrangements, floor protection and waste.
Access and completion
Parking, working access, room sequence, touch-up review, exclusions and applicable VAT.
The written quotation records the agreed preparation and finish. Concealed defects or a change of colour, product or area should be discussed and recorded before additional work proceeds.
Send the room details and surfaces you want included. We review the size, condition and access before confirming a suitable package and availability. Include connected areas such as a landing or staircase if they also need a consistent finish.
Can I supply the paint?
Yes, supply can be agreed in the quotation. Send the product name, finish, colour and quantities before ordering. The selected coating must suit the background, and responsibility for primers, fillers and other preparation materials should also be clear.
Do I need permission to repaint the outside of my house?
Repainting in the same colour usually needs nothing. Parts of Wimbledon are conservation areas, though, and some have extra rules on changes to the front of a house. If you plan a new colour, or want to paint brickwork that has never been painted, check with Merton Council before you book the work. Interior decorating does not need consent.
What to send for a useful quotation
Send the Wimbledon postcode, room photographs, approximate dimensions and a list of walls, ceilings and woodwork, or photographs of the outside if the work is external. Include your colour ideas, known surface problems, who supplies paint, whether the home stays occupied and your preferred timing. We can review the brief before every choice is final.
If the work needs a site visit before we price it, our engineer's visit is free, with no obligation.
