Lick 2027 Colour EditEight colours instead of one

Lick has released a 2027 Colour Edit of eight colours instead of a single colour of the year. Crown had not named a 2027 colour when we checked on 6 November 2026.

Two colour chips: Dulux Soulful Sage, a pale grey-green, and Graham & Brown Rose Earth, a muted clay pink.
Diagram: screen approximations of Dulux Soulful Sage and Graham & Brown Rose Earth, taken from each brand's own swatch. We could not find published on-screen values for Little Greene Marle or WGSN Luminous Blue, so they are not shown.

Dulux Soulful Sage

AkzoNobel, which owns Dulux, describes Soulful Sage as "an ethereal, soft and silvery green designed to help you live lightly". It was announced in September 2026 with three palettes built around it: Glow, based on earth tones, Light, which mixes pale and darker shades, and Lift, with brighter tones. Dulux Trade, the range most decorators buy, carries the same colour of the year.

A pale green like this can look grey in a north-facing room, so try a large sample before you order the full quantity.

Little Greene Marle

Marle is one of 26 new shades Little Greene added in 2026. The brand describes it as a calm, earthy neutral, mostly yellow ochre with black to soften it and a touch of red oxide. Little Greene suggests using it on every surface of a room, on the walls with a paler shade from its Clay range on the ceiling and woodwork, or on a ceiling in place of white.

One colour on walls, ceiling and woodwork suits small rooms such as a snug or a hallway. Woodwork needs a tougher finish than walls, so check the colour comes in the finishes you need.

Graham & Brown Rose Earth

Graham & Brown says Rose Earth "draws on natural mineral pigments from Italian clay". It is the paint partner to Roselle Grove, the brand's 2027 wallpaper, so the two are meant for the same room, for example one papered wall with the rest painted. Hanging wallpaper in London typically costs £30 to £60 a roll in labour, with the paper and usually VAT extra.

Luminous Blue from WGSN and Coloro

WGSN, the London trend forecaster, and Coloro named Luminous Blue (Coloro 125-28-38) their colour of the year for 2027 in April 2025. It is a forecast for fashion and product design, so there is no tin of paint with that name. Take the Coloro code to the paint desk and ask for the closest match. Their other key colours for 2027 are Energy Orange, Pop Pink, Meadowland Green and Clay.

What colours go with sage green?

Warm off-whites, oak and brass. A warm white on the ceiling and woodwork keeps a sage room light, while a stark brilliant white can make the green look grey. The other 2027 picks work with it too: Rose Earth in a bedroom off a sage hallway, or Marle on the skirting and doors of a sage room. Painting the walls and ceiling the same green makes a living room feel enclosed and calm.

Testing a colour before you buy

  • Paint a large sample, or use a peel-and-stick sample, on two walls and look at it in daylight and in the evening under your own bulbs.
  • North-facing rooms make colours look cooler and south-facing rooms make them warmer.
  • Use a wipeable finish in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, and matt where you want a soft look.
  • Many older London houses have lime plaster. Check the paint suits it, as some modern paints trap moisture in lime walls.

How much does it cost to paint a room in London?

Painting the walls and ceiling of an average bedroom or living room in London typically costs £450 to £700. With the doors, frames and skirting included, it is typically £600 to £1,000. A deep colour over a pale one, or the other way round, can need an extra coat. These are typical ranges, not fixed prices, and they usually exclude VAT.
