Tiled and specified splashback finishes

Provide the intended wall area, tile or splashback reference, layout and edge details. Mark sockets, switches, corners, upstands and exposed ends. Identify tile patterns, trims, joints and cuts, so they are not left inside an unspecified installation allowance.

For a manufactured panel or glass product, establish who templates, checks and approves the final dimensions. Specialist manufacture and any supplier-specific installation requirements must be confirmed, as they are not automatically included in a general fitting enquiry.

Prepare the retained wall

Show the current finish and any uneven, loose or damaged areas. Explain whether existing tiles are proposed to stay. The background and selected system need assessment before preparation and fixing are agreed.

If the old finish is removed, the exposed background may need additional work. The quotation should record the assessed preparation and how concealed damage would be reported. No fixed removal-and-cover solution suits every wall.

Resolve worktops, heat and service positions

Confirm the worktop, upstand and appliance arrangement before final manufacture or fitting. Heat suitability and clearances must follow the current splashback and appliance instructions. A single generic distance is not suitable for every product or hob.

Socket or switch adjustments need the responsible electrician. Agree which trades attend, who checks the supplied finish and what surrounding decoration is required. Keep the exact order drawing and accepted product information with the kitchen documents.

Compare the same product, background preparation and finished edges, with supply responsibilities stated.

Can a splashback go over existing tiles?

Sometimes a selected system permits it, but the background and product instructions need checking. Added thickness, exposed edges and service interfaces must also be considered.

Can you fit a splashback supplied by us?

We can discuss a suitable installation after reviewing the product, instructions, dimensions and complete components. Agree who checks the order and delivery before the fitting date.

When should a made-to-measure splashback be ordered?

After the responsible supplier/installer confirms the final dimensions and relevant worktop, appliance and cut-out positions. An early quotation sketch should not be treated as the final manufacturing instruction.

What to send for a useful quotation

Send the postcode, photographs, wall dimensions, chosen finish, worktop plan, hob reference and socket positions. Explain retained tiles, final-measurement responsibility, product supply and the intended finish at edges.
