Complete frame and door information

Give the frame manufacturer and model, door leaf details, handles, latch and finishing components. Identify who supplies each item and whether the supplier’s order includes the leaf. Check that all components form a suitable assembly for the intended use.

The visible doorway is not the full frame space. Overall opening dimensions, finished wall thickness and clear passage need checking against the chosen system. Final site measurements and the selected product instructions should inform the agreed arrangement.

Partition and finishing interfaces

Tell us whether the wall exists or is part of a new partition package. Include the specified board layers, wall finishes, trims, skirting and finished floor information. The fitting quotation should show which parts of that wall and finish work are included.

Structural openings, service relocation and specified fire or acoustic performance need appropriate design information and responsibilities. An ordinary pocket-door fitting price should not be assumed to include specialist assessment, approval or certification.

Coordinate before boarding and decorating

Show nearby sockets, switches, pipework and fixtures on the opening drawing. Resolve their relationship to the pocket with the responsible designer and installer. Record who checks the installation before the wall is closed and which areas remain accessible.

Agree the sequence with flooring and decoration, including any return visit for the door or ironmongery. Product delivery, complete hardware and the current drawing should be confirmed before an installation date is fixed.

What should the quotation include?

Price the specified door system alongside the opening, wall construction and finishing work.

Compare quotations against the exact system, checked opening, wall construction and finish. Any structural or specialist performance work should have its own stated design and installation responsibilities.

Questions before you enquire

Can you install a pocket frame I supply?

We can discuss a suitable supplied-system installation. Send the exact model, current instructions, leaf details and all associated components so the scope can be checked.

Does the wall have to be a particular thickness?

It must suit the selected system and project specification. The manufacturer’s frame and finished-wall requirements need to be checked; there is no single thickness for every pocket door.

Does fitting include structural alterations?

Only if expressly scoped with the necessary assessment and design. Do not treat a frame-installation quote as authority to alter an existing structural wall.

What to send for a useful quotation

Send the postcode, wall photographs, current opening drawing, product and door references, finished floor details, service locations and finish requirements. Identify the design and supply responsibilities.
